This document assumes that the Terminal Server computer and Terminal Server Client computers are already installed and working properly.

*Only EASYLABEL® 5 or higher using the Terminal Server WIBU Box attached to either the USB or Parallel port of the computer running Terminal Server can be used.

  1. Install EASYLABEL on the computer running Terminal Server.
  2. The WIBU Key Drivers must be installed on the computer running Terminal Server.
  3. A Terminal Server WIBU Box must be attached to the USB or Parallel port of the computer running Terminal Server.
  4. From the computer running the Terminal Server Client, access EASYLABEL as you normally would.
  5. Printers connected locally to the computer running Terminal Server will be configured in EASYLABEL as connected to either a “Serial” or “Parallel” port.
  6. All other printers located on the Terminal Server Network, including printers connected locally to the computers running the Terminal Server Client, must be configured in EASYLABEL as a “Network” printer. See the section below for more information.

Printing to a Printer Connected to the Computer Running Windows Terminal Server

Operating from Windows Terminal Server Client, EASYLABEL is actually running on the computer that Windows Terminal Server is installed on. That is why all printers installed locally on the Terminal Server computer become local printers to EASYLABEL when it is operating on a Terminal Server Client. These local printers can be selected from the Printer Configuration page under Settings in EASYLABEL as if you were running a stand-alone version.

Printing to a Shared Network Printer Connected to a Terminal Client or other Print Server.

Remember: When running in the Terminal Client mode, you are running on the Terminal Server, not your local PC. Printers connected to your local PC cannot be printed to UNLESS they have been selected as shared in the Windows Driver AND can be seen on the network by the Terminal Server. If the printer is shared, it will have a UNC name of the form:

\\PC_NAME\PRINTER_NAME

If a printer driver came with the printer, you may install that Windows Printer Driver following the directions recommended by the manufacturer. If your printer can be found on the list of internal printer drivers supplied with EASYLABEL, you may follow these simple steps at the Computer where the printer is attached.

Setting Up a Generic Printer Driver

  1. From Windows 95/98/NT, click Start > Settings > Printers, double-click on the “Add Printer” icon
  2. The “Add Printer Wizard” will be displayed; click “Next” to start the Wizard
  3. Choose “Local Printer”; click “Next”
  4. From the Manufacturers list on the left side, choose “Generic” and from the Printers list on the right side, choose “Generic/Text Only”; Click “Next”
  5. Choose the port that the printer is connected to; click “Next”
  6. Type the printer’s share name you will use; for example “TomsPrinter”
  7. Choose whether or not you would like this printer to be your default Windows printer (normally, this will be “NO”); click “Next”
  8. Follow the rest of the “Add Printer Wizard”, instructions (answer NO to “Print Test Page”).

You should now start your Terminal Client software from the PC you wish to operate EASYLABEL from and see if the printer can be found under the Network Neighborhood icon. After verifying that it can be seen, you will then install the internal printer controller by selecting Settings > Printer Configuration > Add A New Printer. Select the correct Printer model and under Type of Port select “3. Network”. Under “Network Printer Path”, Browse for the computer with the printer you wish to print from. Complete the configuration, restart EASYLABEL, and the printer is now ready to have formats designed for it.
