Important Note:

As of Version 5.7.0 EASYLABEL will only install on Windows 2000 or higher. Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows NT are no longer supported. EASYLABEL 5.6 should be used on Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows NT. Windows 95 is not supported.

Important Note:

If you used Visual Studio 2003 to compile a project using EASYLABEL’s ActiveX objects with version 1.1 of the .NET framework, you may experience a crash when you run your project after upgrading to EASYLABEL 5.7.0 This is because the project tries to load .NET framework version 1.1 and then tries to load .NET framework version 2. This loading of the second .NET framework fails and that causes the crash. To correct this, compile your project using Visual Studio 2005. If this is not possible you can correct the problem if you un-install version 1.1 of the .NET framework.

The following changes/additions have been made :

1. Datamax printers and Dot Expansion
Fixed a problem in the Datamax “Standard” driver where the dot expansion command was always using an expansion of 1.

2. Zebra printers and Datamatrix Symbols
Corrected problem encoding a FN1 (function 1) character in Datamatrix symbols.

3. Downloading formats to printer memory card (Standalone mode)
When downloading formats to a printer memory card, some field options are not supported. The following operations are not allowed when downloading formats: Multi-source text or barcode fields, barcodes created using the “EAN Wizard”. Date and time offsets that reference another field have been disabled for cab printers for standalone.

4. Tharo H series printers and TrueType fonts
Corrected a problem when using bitmapped TrueType fonts with variable fields (database, when-printed, etc.). In some cases not all of the characters needed for the font were downloaded.

5. USB printers
When adding a USB connected printer, the “bi-directional” option now defaults to “YES”.

6. Tharo H series support Julian Day
Added support for “Julian Day” as a printer supported date format. This can now be used in standalone mode and is also optimized for printing when connected to a PC.

7. Datamatrix Symbol Sizes
You can now select the exact size for a Datamatrix symbol. Previously, the size was calculated based on the data to be encoded. Specifying the size is useful in cases where it was important that the symbol always occupy the same amount of space on the label.

8. Zebra printers and Time Accuracy
Added support for the “Time Accuracy Tolerance” command to all Zebra printers that support it. This allows for more accurate printing of timestamp values on the label.

9. Paragraph text fields containing CR or NL characters
Corrected a problem processing carriage-return (CR or 0x0D) and new-line (NL or 0x0A) characters in paragraph text fields.

10. Format Tracking Reports and Unicode Fields
When a text field marked as “Unicode Data” also has the “Report Data” option enabled, then a new Unicode tracking report is created. Unicode tracking reports are text files formatted as CSV (comma separated variable) and can be easily imported into Microsoft Excel or other applications for viewing, printing, or other data manipulation.

11. Updated User Interface
User interface elements (menus, toolbars, buttons, etc.) now have the look of the host OS. This makes the application look better when running under Windows XP or Windows Vista.

12. ODBC databases and Search Path
If a format used an ODBC database and the program options also indicated a search path, then the database table name would be corrupted. This has been corrected. The table names of external (non-EASYLABEL) databases are unaffected by the search path option.

13. Default file paths
Implemented default paths for all of the file types: images, databases, formats, serial files, reports, text files, and command files. Enter one or more directory names (separated by a “;”) to be searched in case the file cannot be located in its original path.

14. Sato printers and label width/height
On some Sato printers the command to set label width and height was not correct. This has been fixed for all Sato printers.

15. File Deletion Logging
When the “Log File Deletions” option was enabled, the file created may contain random garbage characters after the user ID. This has been fixed.

16. Unicode Design/Test Value
A Unicode text field now allows for the “Design/Test Value” to be a Unicode text string.

17. Unicode “When Printed” Fields
A Unicode text field that is source of “when printed” now allows for a Unicode “Fixed List of Values” to be specified.

18. Reseller version start-up screen
The Reseller version now allows the selection of the “Start” version on the start-up selection screen.

19. Print Queue
Corrected a problem in the print queue where a printer may become “stuck” with a status of waiting or printing, and it would not process any more jobs. This happened when jobs were queued and de-queued to multiple printers in rapid succession (mostly caused by printing to duplexed printers).

20. Windows Printers and Paper Form Names
When printing to a printer using a Windows printer driver, the software will try to match up the form name used for the label format. This is most useful when the printer driver allows you to create a custom form name. If the same form name is used on multiple computers, then the label format will be printed using the correct form.

21. Number field “Price” format
When formatting a numeric field as a price ($1,234.56) the number would be formatted incorrectly for prices greater than 9,999.99 and parts of the price were missing. This has been corrected.

22. TSC Printers and Code 39 barcodes
Corrected a problem in the TSC driver where the wrong command was sent for Code 39 symbols. This was a problem with some of the newer TSC printers.

23. ISO Week of Year, Day of Week
When selecting the program option “ISO Week of Year”, this did not affect the day of week calculation. For non-ISO, the day of the week is 0-6 where Sunday is 0, Monday is 1, etc. For ISO calculation, Monday is still 1, but Sunday is now 7. The option has been renamed “ISO 8601 Specification” and affects both the “Week of Year” and “Day of Week” calculations.

24. Demonstration Mode
If the software is started but cannot find a local or network license, it will run in demonstration mode. A dialog box is displayed at startup that shows some of the limitations of the software when running in this mode.

25. cab Printer driver enhancements
Added support for many new commands for cab printers, such as: enhanced status, perforation cutter, time offsets, barcode justification, inverted (reverse image) barcodes, long field names, Hermes applicator backfeed command, cut or perforate before first label, and support for transparent label liner.

26. EASYLABEL GOLD now supports Date and Time offsets
EASYLABEL GOLD now has the ability to do offsets for both date and time fields. Offsets can be fixed value or a reference to another field on the label that contains the offset value.

27. Datamax and USB ports
A Datamax printer that was connected via a USB port and also had the “Bidirectional” option set to “yes” might not function correctly. Print jobs might get stuck in the print queue with a status of “Busy” or “Printing”. The jobs had to be cancelled before any subsequent jobs could be sent. This problem has been fixed and jobs are now processed normally and the print queue “printer status” now shows the correct status information.

28. Tharo H-Series and Standalone mode
When downloading formats to an H-series for use in standalone printing, if the format contained date fields, these fields were sometimes downloaded as fixed text. This has been fixed so that the correct date is printed when the format is accessed in standalone mode. Also fixed two problems with incremented fields. An unnecessary prompt was displayed if the source of data was fixed, and the type of increment (numeric, hex, alpha) was not always used when the source was when-printed.

29. Tharo H-Series and Standalone mode text fields
Added a new feature to allow variable (when-printed or database) text fields to be left justified, right justified, or centered within the field width. You may need to upgrade your printer firmware to allow this feature to work properly.
